Simplify Data Analytics with BigQuery Dataset for Cloud Optimization

The Active Assist feature in Google Cloud provides insights and recommendations to help customers optimize their cloud environments in terms of cost, security, performance, and sustainability. These recommendations were previously accessible in the Google Cloud console, but now they can also be exported to BigQuery for easier organization-wide discovery and integration with existing monitoring solutions and workflows.

Here are the new features introduced in Active Assist BigQuery Export:

1. Non-project scoped recommendations:In addition to project-level recommendations, you can now export recommendations at the billing account, organization, and folder levels to BigQuery. This ensures that you have a comprehensive view of all available recommendations in your export.
2. Custom contract pricing:If your company has custom contract pricing, cost-related recommendations will take that into account when calculating cost savings in the BigQuery export. This ensures accurate cost savings data based on your historical costs. However, the user executing the export needs the appropriate permissions to view custom contract pricing.
3. Global availability: Customers outside of the US can now set up exports of recommendations to a BigQuery dataset.

The BigQuery export enhancements, there are also improvements to the discoverability and usability of Active Assist:

1. Global Recommender Viewer role: A new role called “Recommender Viewer” allows users to have view access to all insights and recommendations across their organization. This simplifies permission management, and newly launched recommendations will automatically be added as they become available.
2. Dismissing recommendations via the Recommender API:Recommendations can now be dismissed directly via the API, allowing users to focus on the recommendations that matter to them and work more efficiently.
3. Shareable links:Shareable URLs that link to recommendation details in the console are now available. These links can be accessed from the UI and can be used in reports, dashboards, or embedded in other BigQuery clients. They become even more powerful when combined with Recommendations BigQuery Export.

These updates to Active Assist aim to make it easier for customers to discover, work with, and share recommendations across their organization, promoting efficient cloud optimization and management.
