Micron introduces high-end 1 Beta architecture for 16 GB DDR5-7200 MT/s memory

Micron has just released their brand new 16 GB DDR5 DRAM, which is capable of reaching speeds of up to 7200 MT/s and is intended to be used in the memory applications of servers as well as personal computers.

Statement to the Press: Micron DDR5 Memory Upgraded With the Latest 16 GB DRAM Modules Based On the 1 Process Node Today, Micron Technology made the news that it has extended its industry-leading 1 (1 beta) production node technology by releasing 16 GB of DDR5 memory. This was accomplished by introducing the technology.

It has been shown that the 1 GB DDR5 DRAM manufactured by Micron can function in systems at speeds of up to 7,200 MT/s, and it is presently available for purchase by clients of data centres as well as personal PCs. Micron’s 1G-based DDR5 memory, which has improved high-k CMOS device technology, 4-phase clocking, and clock sync, offers up to a 50% boost in performance in comparison to the previous generation and a 33% rise in performance per watt.

As the number of CPU cores increases, there is a correspondingly greater need for significantly increased memory bandwidth and capacities in order to meet the requirements of the workloads in data centres. It is essential to do so in order to circumvent the challenge given by the “memory wall” and, at the same time, achieve the best possible total cost of ownership for customers.

With the manufacture of 1 GB DDR5 DRAM in considerable levels and the subsequent availability of this memory for use in client and data centre platforms, the industry has achieved a critical new stage that is essential for the industry as a whole. The uptake of these memory choices that provide greater performance will quicken as a direct result of our collaboration with both the partners in our ecosystem and with our individual customers.

Applications such as artificial intelligence (AI) training and inference, generative AI, data analytics, and in-memory databases (IMDB) are made possible by the 1x DDR5 DRAM’s ability to allow faster growth in computing capabilities. These applications can operate across client platforms and data centres.

The current module densities may be met by the new 1 DDR5 DRAM product line, which offers speeds ranging from 4,800 MT/s all the way up to 7,200 MT/s. These speeds are suited for use in applications pertaining to data centres as well as those pertaining to consumers.

Because of the 1 technology that Micron has created, the company is in a position to provide customers a diverse selection of memory-based solutions. These solutions consist of DDR5 RDIMMs and MCRDIMMs that employ 16Gb, 24Gb, and 32Gb DRAM die, LPDDR5X that uses 16Gb and 24Gb DRAM die, HBM3E, and GDDR7 memory modules respectively. Direct sales and channel partners will both be able to give access to the newly launched Micron 16Gb DDR5 memory products. Direct sales will prioritise customer satisfaction above other considerations.
