Kirin 9000SL Features
There is another edition of the Kirin 9000S that is believed to power a more premium member of the Nova range, however it is allegedly a downgraded version named the Kirin 9000SL. The Kirin 8000 was previously revealed as another undisclosed SoC from Huawei that will be featured in the Nova 12 Pro. The specifications that were leaked indicate that while the CPU cluster on each chipset is different, they both have the same GPU. These facts are given below.
The fastest core of the Kirin 9000SL runs at 2.35GHz, which is less than that of the Kirin 9000S, although this chipset has more cores.
The Kirin 9000SL will be a 9-core component with a “2 + 3 + 4” cluster, while the Kirin 9000S is an 8-core solution with a “1 + 3 + 4” CPU cluster. This information was revealed by Mochamad Farido Fanani on X. In summary, the single TaiShan V120 core of the Kirin 9000S clocks in at 2.62GHz, whilst the two cores of the Kirin 9000SL operate at a lower frequency of 2.35GHz each.
The Kirin 9000SL is expected to perform better multi-core than the Kirin 9000S due to its increased core count, yet they believe the difference may not be noticeable because of the little variations in clock speeds. Examining the picture closely for additional information, the new SoC is anticipated to be installed in the Nova 12 Ultra; however, it is unknown if the silicon is utilizing the same TaiShan cores.
Because the Maleoon 910 GPU is equivalent in the Kirin 9000SL and Kirin 9000S, both chipsets should function identically in tasks or tests that put load on the graphics processor. All things considered, the Kirin 9000SL is essentially a rebranded 7nm Kirin 9000S from SMIC with different specifications. It is unclear, though, if Huawei plans to use the 5nm technology to mass produce a superior chip for the P70 series. Regarding Huawei’s plans, it is too soon to say.
