Extended Warranty for Intel 13th and 14th Generation Desktop Processors Announced by MSI, Addressing Instability Proactively.
Processor Tray
Following Intel’s announcement, which mentioned complaints of instability in some 13th and 14th generation desktop processors, MSI moved quickly to address the issue and worked closely with Intel to minimize the impact on their consumers.
Maintaining their dedication to superior product design, MSI has quickly addressed these issues and allayed consumer fears by releasing a BIOS update. Furthermore, they are adding an extra two years to the guarantee for the impacted desktop processors so that their customers can continue to use MSI products with confidence.
MSI’s first goal has always been its customers. Always continue to improve their services and product design to give their customers the best experience. Please contact your local customer service Centre with any questions. Keep checking back for further information.
Policy for Intel Boxed Processor warranty
The standard limited warranty for Intel Boxed Processors is three years, but Intel may extend it to five years (some have a one-year limited warranty). If Intel offers a product replacement, the warranty qualifying period does not reset; rather, it begins on the date of initial purchase.

Tray Processors’ warranty policy
At the location of your purchase, the warranty is offered.
Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Intel-approved distributors are the only direct customers to whom Intel typically provides a one-year limited warranty for Processor Tray. OEM manufacturer warranties apply to Intel processors used in OEM systems; Intel does not often provide direct support for these processors. For warranty support, get in touch with your distributor or OEM.
Intel’s limited warranty for direct customers (OEMs and Intel authorized distributors) is extended to three years beginning with the 12th generation Intel desktop Processor Tray. At the location of your purchase, the warranty is offered. Previous iterations of Intel desktop processors are not covered by the three-year limited warranty.

What Distinguishes Intel Boxed Processors from Processors Tray?
Are Intel Boxed processors and Intel Processor Tray functionally different from one another?
No, if each of these processor types have the same processor number, there are no functional differences between them. The warranty is the primary distinction. See the Intel Boxed vs. Processor Tray Warranty Policy for further details on warranties.
Intel Boxed Processor
as an authentic Intel Boxed CPU obtained from a distributor authorized by Intel. Processors from Intel are sold by Intel Authorized Distributors in boxes that are prominently labelled. These processors are known as Intel Boxed processors. See their warranty policy page for further information regarding the Intel Boxed and Tray warranty.
With the exception of processors bearing the letters K, KF, KS, XE, or X in their number, all Intel Boxed Processors come with an Intel Thermal Solution (fan heatsink).
Processor Tray
within a system designed by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). High volume manufacturers like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo purchase Processor Tray. They purchase CPUs in large quantities and install them in PCs (desktops, laptops, and All-in-Ones). These suppliers handle tray processor warranty replacements and technical assistance directly. These processors are referred to as OEM or Processor Tray. Intel does not offer direct assistance under warranty. For warranty assistance, get in touch with your OEM or reseller.
You can be qualified for a warranty if you own an Intel Data Centre System (Intel DCS) from Intel. Please refer to this document to determine whether your system is an Intel DCS (Intel Data Centre System): Where Can I Find Intel DCS (Intel Data Centre Systems) Product Code and Serial Number? For information on eligibility and the warranty procedure for the Intel Data Centre System, please get in touch with Intel Customer Support.
How to Look Up My Intel Boxed Processor’s Warranty Status
You will need two numbers in order to begin the process of determining whether your Intel Boxed Processor is eligible for warranty service.
Batch number (FPO, for short)
The last three to five digits of the processor’s full serial number are found on the outside edge of the processor, and these are referred to as the partial ATPO or full serial number, respectively.
If the findings showed that the CPU was a tray, get in touch with the retailer to discuss your warranty alternatives as Processor Tray purchased from resellers or system makers are not protected by the Intel guarantee. You might be qualified for a warranty if you own an Intel Data Centre System; to find out, get in touch with Intel Customer Support.
