The next-generation TRX50 AERO D SP6 motherboard from Gigabyte is now available for use with AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper 7000 processors.

The First SP6 Motherboard From Gigabyte, Compatible With AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 CPUs The TRX50 AERO D is seen here.

Later on today, AMD will unveil its next-generation Ryzen Threadripper 7000 central processing units, and Gigabyte has already shown its next-generation motherboard that will be able to handle the chip. The motherboard in issue is the Gigabyte TRX50 AERO D, and it will be a member of the TRX50 series of high-end desktop (HEDT) motherboards. This series will complement the WRX90 motherboard, which has a greater level of performance. The next month, these motherboards will be made available for do-it-yourselfers, but the WRX90 motherboards will be primarily marketed for customers who purchase pre-built workstation PCs and high-end workstation users.

In terms of the technical specs, the Gigabyte TRX50 AERO D motherboard makes use of the AMD SP6 socket, which is well-known for being able to accommodate the server-grade EPYC 8004 Sienna CPUs. These processors are based around the Zen 4C core architecture, and for the enthusiast HEDT and Workstation platforms, you will also be receiving the same treatment with up to 96 cores.

The CPU socket is flanked by four DIMMs, indicating that it is a quad-channel DDR5 array. It is powered by a VRM that has 16+8+4 phases and is laid out in a layout that is at an acute angle. The 8-channel memory array will be implemented across all WRX90 platform variants. The power supply for the CPU socket consists of a pair of 8-pin connections and a 24-pin ATX connector as standard.

The motherboard includes a generous selection of USB ports in addition to three PCIe Gen 5.0 x16 extension slots, four M.2 Gen5x4 expansion slots, and four of those slots. A heatsink is provided for each of the M.2 slots on the motherboard, and in addition to that, there are eight SATA III connections available. The entire design language is incredibly long-lasting and silver-colored, and the aesthetics are quite straightforward and uncomplicated.
