120 Hz IPS Black Monitors Specs
Two new 27-inch displays are joining Dell’s businesslike UltraSharp range, the company has revealed. The UltraSharp U2724D and U2724DE, two new, elegantly designed monitors, also have a gamer-pleasing trick up their sleeves: they’re the first that we know of that feature IPS Black display panels that operate at 120 Hz refresh rates.
IPS Black display panels were first shown at CES 2022 and are really produced by LG in Korea. The enhanced IPS technology, as the name suggests, doubles the contrast ratio and provides “a 35% deeper black than existing IPS products.” To support that claim with some data, an IPS monitor’s usual contrast ratio is around 1000:1, although IPS Black panels may achieve 2000:1. Additionally, according to LG, IPS Black enhances color volume in low-gradation regions and provides better viewing angles.
The 4K UltraSharp models from Dell, which are available in 27- and 32-inch sizes, were the company’s first monitors to use IPS Black display panel technology. The company’s pixel-dense Dell UltraSharp 32 6K Monitor was introduced not too long ago.
The new 27-inch U2724D and U2724DE can operate at up to 120 Hz refresh rate, whereas the original IPS Black monitors had a maximum refresh rate of just 60 Hz. The resolution of these most recent IPS Black monitors has been reduced, although they still sport 1440p screens rather than 4K ones.
The main specifications of the new Dell UltraSharp U2724D and U2724DE are as follows:

Dell emphasizes the “5-star Eye Comfort” provided by the amalgamation of the aforementioned attributes (such as contrast, refresh rate, and ambient light control) in its productivity-focused displays. Additionally, there are the well-known flicker-free and reduced blue light qualities. In addition, these monitors support PbP and PiP when using many video sources. There is no mention of any gaming functions, and it is unclear whether VRR technology is supported.
The only differences between the UltraSharp U2724D and U2724DE are in the connection they provide and, of course, the MSRP. One DisplayPort 1.4 input, one DP out, one HDMI in, one audio out, one USB type-C data connection with 15W PD, and a USB hub with one USB-C upstream for three USB ports are all features of Dell’s UltraSharp U2724D. People who are looking for better connection could be drawn to the U2724DE model. The additional ‘E’ indicates that this monitor features an additional Thunderbolt 3 connector, which provides KVM capabilities, an Ethernet port, and DP Alt mode in addition to 15W power supply.
