It Appears That Entire Stars Are Being Omitted When Starfield Is Played on AMD Radeon Graphics Processing Units
Users on Reddit have uncovered a new glitch in Starfield in which the game is unable to draw full stars while it is being played on a GPU developed by AMD Radeon.
The Case of Missing Stars in Starfield on AMD Radeon GPUs, Nothing Game-Breaking but Definitely Immersion-Breaking Despite the Fact That It Does Not Break the Game
So, a member on Reddit wrote in the Starfield forum that there was an issue with the game while it was being played on an AMD Radeon GPU. The problem is fairly straightforward; the video game simply does not depict a star in any solar system when you are on the dayside of a moon or any other planetary object.
This occurs regardless of whatever solar system you are in. The problem is exclusive to AMD Radeon GPUs, and users of both Radeon RX 7000 and Radeon RX 6000 GPUs have reported experiencing the same issue.
The problem is that the dayside of any planetary body or moon requires a source of light that completely illuminates it in order to function properly. That source is the star, and on any GPU that is not an AMD GPU, you will see the star or sun in the sky box, and it will be the source of the light that is falling on the surface.
However, when using AMD cards, the star or sun will simply not appear, while the planet or moon will keep their illumination even in the absence of any other source of light.
Even though this glitch does not prevent players from enjoying the game, it does make the experience much less immersive. After playing for close to one hundred hours, he can say with certainty that gazing upon a star in the hazy reaches of space while in the Starfield environment may be a very beautiful experience. One of the things that helps make this game so graphically engaging and enjoyable to play is the fact that there are a lot of different planets to explore.
There is still another instance in which the game generated an illuminated skybox but left out the star that should have been there on a regular planet.
The customer also said that he was able to fix the problem by replacing his AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT GPU with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. This was another solution that he found to be effective. It is important to keep in mind that Bethesda and AMD collaborated in order to improve the overall user experience for those who possess Ryzen and Radeon GPUs.
The game performs quite well on Radeon GPUs in comparison to those used by its rivals, but the presence of problems such as these demonstrates a serious lack of attention to detail. To reiterate, this will not cause the game to become unplayable since the problem wasn’t discovered until now, despite the fact that over 300,000 people are playing the game concurrently on Steam.
It is possible that Bethesda may release a patch for the game in order to fix this problem; but, if they are a little late, there is always the modding community, which has been hard at work since the game was published, pumping massive quantities of optimisations and performance-specific modifications.
If Bethesda does not roll out a patch for the game in order to address this issue, then the modding community will. he have been playing the game with the DLSS Frame-Gen mod enabled, which makes the game run really smoothly.
