The teaser announcement was made by Minisforum via its Twitter page, and based on the picture, it appears like we will once again receive a small and streamlined design with more potent technology. The following generation of Minisforum Mini PCs will be powered by AMD’s Ryzen 7040 “Phoenix” processor, which will be available in stores in the near future.

Specs

A variety of I/O, including two USB4 (Type-C) ports, four USB 3.2 Gen2 (Type-A) connectors, a 2.5GbE LAN port, twin HDMI 2,1 outputs, and a 19V DC power connector, can be seen in the teaser image. With exhaust vents on the sides and the rear to blow out heated air, the Venus UM790 & UM780 Mini PC will have a slick metallic look.

The Minisforum UM790 & UM780 Venus Mini PCs are equipped with AMD’s Phoenix APU under the Ryzen 7040 family, making the internals the most fascinating component. AMD Ryzen 9 7940H/HS and Ryzen 7 7840H/HS CPUs would be used in these Mini PCs.

Graphics

The Mini PCs will include integrated Radeon 780M iGPU with RDNA 3 graphics and up to 8 Zen 4 cores, 16 threads, and up to 5.2 GHz boost speeds, however the exact specifications have not yet been determined. The iGPU is excellent for playing games since it is small and extremely effective. Being effective will also result in cooler operation, and the Minisforum solution will use active cooling to address this issue. 100W PD support will also be included.

These devices will likely cost around the same as existing Ryzen 6000-based systems, though prices and availability have not yet been announced. We have also been informed that the business will present the Venus Mini PCs at Computex 2023, so we will undoubtedly get more information in the coming days. One of the numerous products using the new AMD Phoenix APUs that will be available later this month are the Minisforum UM790 & UM780 Venus Mini PCs.
