New name convention for our next-generation intelligent PC platforms: The Snapdragon X Series
Since the Snapdragon 8cx computing platform was first released, Qualcomm Technologies has been at the forefront of pushing the envelope when it comes to innovation, enabling both consumer and business PC experiences.
We were the first to introduce the world’s first dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) for artificial intelligence (AI) processing in a laptop, and we continue to lead the industry in performance per watt, enabling up to multiple days of battery life on a single charge.
We did all of this with the world’s first 5G-enabled personal computer. It gives me great pleasure to announce today the introduction of an all-new naming architecture for our platforms, which will be known collectively as the Snapdragon X Series and will reflect the way in which we are working to revolutionize the next generation of experiences available on personal computers.
The personal computer market will reach a tipping point in 2024, and Snapdragon X computing platforms will give next-level speed, artificial intelligence, connectivity, and battery life at that time.
Our years of expertise in the building of heterogeneous computing architectures spanning the central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing unit (GPU), and neural processing unit (NPU) provide the foundation for the Snapdragon X series platforms.
Now, by using our next-generation unique Qualcomm Oryon CPU, Snapdragon X will anchor a quantum leap ahead in performance and power efficiency. When paired with our NPU, Snapdragon X will enable enhanced on-device user experiences for the new age of generative artificial intelligence.
How did we end ourselves at this location?
After a great deal of in-depth study, customer research, brainstorming, and input from the PC ecosystem, we’ve arrived at this new naming standard and new visual design system that is founded upon the insights that we gathered:
Our PC platforms are differentiated from those of other Snapdragon product categories by the identification X.
This revolutionary step forward in computing, as well as the user experiences that it will make possible, is celebrated by the luxury design.
Users are assisted in navigating our platform capabilities, which range from standard to premium, by a tiering system that is transparent and easy to understand.
All while capitalizing on the already established worldwide brand value of Snapdragon.
Absolutely original layout?
The Snapdragon X series will be brought to life graphically in new ways thanks to the introduction of new logos and platform badges. This new design system will be released with the first introduction of the Snapdragon X platform, employing the classic Snapdragon fireball with a twist to create something that is striking, colorful, clean, and unique.
