Ray tracing will able at 30, 40, and 60fps in Spider-Man 2

Ray Tracing in Spider-Man 2

To get an idea of how appealing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is as a video game, all you need to do is view a teaser or a gameplay video. This will make the game’s appeal abundantly clear. In spite of this, we have not been provided with a great deal of information on the specific visual settings that the game will provide. Mike Fitzgerald, who is the director of core technology at Insomniac Games, recently gave an interview to IGN. During the course of the conversation, he practically let the cat out of the bag in regard to what we may be able to expect.

According to Fitzgerald, Spider-Man 2 will have a “Visuals” option that runs at 30 frames per second, a “Performance” mode that runs at 60 frames per second (I don’t know precisely what Insomniac will call these modes), and a high framerate mode that runs at 40 frames per second for people who have displays that can display 120 frames per second.

All of these options will be playable at different frame rates. In addition to that, support for VRR is going to be included. Fitzgerald does not provide any specifics on the resolution that will be used for various settings; however, he does note that none of them will be completely locked. He goes on to explain that this is because Insomniac “likes to have our resolution be dynamic,” and that as a result, “then we have a pretty robust temporal anti-aliasing solution that lets us scale that up and down.”

Ray tracing is something that players of Spider-Man 2 won’t have to give up, no matter what visual option they want to play in. This is true regardless of the resolution at which they play. In contrast to the vast majority of games that are available for consoles of the current generation, Spider-Man 2 does not disable ray tracing in order to improve performance; rather, this effect is present in all of the game’s possible graphic settings. This is in contrast to the vast majority of games that are available for current-generation consoles.

Spider-Man 2 with Ray Tracing

The makers of this game have said that “Ray tracing is something that we are really able to deliver as a baseline performance mode for this game.” There is no option in this game that gives you the ability to turn off the ray tracer or disable its usage in any way. There is absolutely no need to go in that direction. Now that we’ve finally figured out how to provide what we believe to be the correct picture and visuals for Spider-Man, we need to make sure that every single player is able to see them.

Because Sony’s first-party developers are the only ones who can truly make the PlayStation 5 shine, and because Insomniac is largely regarded to be the PlayStation business with the greatest degree of technical skill, the Spider-Man game should have a high level of polish. If you haven’t been keeping up with the most recent information on Spider-Man 2, Insomniac Entertainment published a fresh peek at the game’s expanded open world the other day, and you can have a look at it here if you haven’t already.

“The very first thing that will stand out to you about our city is that its size has almost doubled as a consequence of the purchase of two iconic New York boroughs, namely Queens and Brooklyn. This will be the very first thing that will make an impression on you about our city. And we’ve included web-wings, a brand-new gameplay mechanic that, when combined with web-swinging, enables you to navigate throughout the city in an entirely new way and at speeds that are far faster than anything you’ve ever seen before.

The PlayStation 5 version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be available for purchase in the month of October.
