The release of macOS Sonoma is scheduled for this Tuesday, September 26. The five changes we’ve highlighted here are among the numerous new features and improvements in the free software update for the Mac.
For a comprehensive summary of everything new in macOS Sonoma, in addition to these five improvements, we’ve included the whole release notes below.
Computer widgets
Widgets are now fully interactive like those on the iPhone thanks to macOS Sonoma, which introduces them to the Mac desktop. Even without installing the relevant Mac software, widgets from your iPhone apps may be used automatically.
Gaming Mode
New Game Mode in macOS Sonoma focuses CPU and GPU performance when gaming on Apple silicon Macs. Additionally, gaming Mode lessens input lag for certain Bluetooth-connected gaming controllers and audio lag for AirPods.
Web Applications Dock
Any website may be placed to the Dock as a web app in macOS Sonoma for easy access. Open the website in Safari, go to the File menu, and choose Add to Dock to build a web app. Web applications feature push notifications and have a condensed toolbar.

New wallpapers and screen savers
New aerial screen savers included to macOS Sonoma include slow-motion views of locations all across the globe, including Dubai and Yosemite National Park, and are similar to those seen on Apple TV. Each screen saver may switch to a coordinating desktop background.
Profiles for Safari
With the addition of profiles in the most recent version of Safari, you may segregate your browsing for different purposes, including professional and personal life. Each profile, according to Apple, has its own history, cookies, extensions, Tab Groups, and favorites.

- MacBook Pro: 2018 and later
