Western Digital Enterprise SSDs Support NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 for AI Compute-Intensive Environments

The PCIe Gen5 DC SN861 E1.S enterprise-class NVMe SSDs from Western Digital Corp. it has been certified to support the NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 rack-scale system.

There are two competing forces offering a threat to businesses as a result of the quick development of AI, ML, and large language model (LLM). Organizations are under pressure to swiftly extract value from the growing amount of data being generated and consumed. As storage demands increase, AI technology stacks must be efficient, scalable, and performant. Western Digital’s corporate SSD, which has been certified to work with the GB200 NVL72 system, meets the increasing demands of the AI market for low latency and high-speed accelerated computing to support compute-intensive AI settings.

In addition to helping to satisfy the various accelerated computing requirements of data centers worldwide, the NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 system gives manufacturers a reference architecture that enables them to swiftly and affordably create over 100 system design configurations while preserving consistency in both performance and design.

Rob Soderbery, EVP and GM of Flash Business at Western Digital, stated that storage has grown in importance and dynamicity inside the AI technology stack. “Customers can eliminate design uncertainty and achieve a quicker time to market for a variety of accelerated computing applications with Western Digital’s DC SN861 E1.S enterprise SSD, certified to support NVIDIA GB200 NVL72.”

According to Mark Taylor, Senior Data Center Product Manager at NVIDIA, “data storage systems need enough capacity and performance to support the computational loads and speeds required for large, sophisticated AI models.” “Western Digital’s four- and eight-terabyte DC SN861 SSDs provide customers with a high-performance, enterprise-class storage solution for accelerated computing applications, and have been tested and verified to support the NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 system.”

Western Digital unveiled a six-phase AI Data Cycle methodology in June that outlines the ideal storage combination for large-scale AI workloads. In order to optimize their AI investments, boost productivity, and lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) of their AI processes, this framework assists clients in planning and creating sophisticated storage infrastructures. Western Digital provides a wide range of storage technologies designed to serve each phase of the AI Data Cycle.
