Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation (Toshiba)’s next-generation S300 Pro Surveillance HDDs match the latest surveillance storage industry expectations. The improved HDDs with conventional magnetic recording (CMR) technology let security system integrators, installers, and end users record, store, and analyse video streams from up to 64 HD cameras. With capacities up to 10TB and double the buffer size of their predecessors.

Large-scale video recording systems are a great fit for the highly scalable, 3.5-inch S300 Pro series HDDs, which come with capacity options of 4TB, 6TB, 8TB, and 10TB. The HDDs now support up to 24 bays and operate reliably even in the most demanding conditions. They offer double the cache buffer capacity (512MiB) and a greater maximum sustained transfer speed (268MiB/s) than the preceding generation. Additionally, they lower power usage, which improves total cost of ownership (TCO).

The S300 Pro series can handle the growing needs of mission-critical surveillance footage for video analysis thanks to its 24/7 operation, expanded yearly workload of 300TB, and mean time to failure (MTTF) of up to 1.2 million hours.

Toshiba’s next-generation S300 Pro HDDs deliver enhanced performance, durability, and 24/7 reliability. They are specifically optimised for large-scale video surveillance operations, where advanced video analytics, face tracking, and editing are mission-critical features, according to Atsushi Toyama, General Manager of Toshiba’s Storage Products Sales & Marketing Division. “They show Toshiba’s dedication to working closely with the top producers of video surveillance systems in the industry, and they enable toshiba partners and customers to take advantage of the variety of premium surveillance HDDs in toshiba product line.”

As of August 2024, the S300 Pro Surveillance HDDs of the next generation are accessible.

  • What is meant by capacity? One trillion bytes is equal to one terabyte (TB), however real storage capacity may differ based on formatting and operating system. The amount of storage that is available (including samples of different media files) will differ depending on the file size, formatting, operating system, software, and/or pre-installed apps, as well as media content. Formatted capacity may differ in reality.
  • In contrast to the S300 Pro Surveillance HDDs of the previous generation, HDWT31AUZSVA
  • Performance simulation with 10 Mbit/s high-definition cameras defines the number of surveillance cameras that can be supported. The types of cameras installed, the hardware and software capabilities of the system, the video compression technology employed, and other system variables like resolution, frames per second, and other parameters can all affect the actual results.
  • “3.5-inch” refers to the HDD form factor. They don’t reveal the actual size of the drive.
  • Depending on the host device, read and write conditions, and file size, read and write speeds can change.
  • One 048 576 bytes is equal to one mebibyte (MiB).
  • Workload is the amount of data written, read, or validated by commands from the host system. It is a measure of the annual data throughput.
  • Mean Time to Failure/Mean Time Between Failures, or MTTF/MTBF, is a statistical metric relating to mean failure rates for a large number of items; it may not precisely reflect real operation. It is neither a promise nor an estimate of product life. The product’s actual working life could differ from its MTTF.
