The QUANTUM WR-5246-40: A NeW HPC Test Chambers

Leading environmental test chamber manufacturer Associated Environmental Systems (AES) is presenting the QUANTUM WR-5246-40, a cutting-edge walk-in test chamber made to satisfy the exacting requirements of data center component testing and high-performance computing (or “HPC”).

It has never been more crucial to guarantee the dependability of these vital components in the face of harsh climatic conditions as industry depend more and more on HPC systems for AI, machine learning, and large-scale simulations. With a high live load testing capacity of up to 250kW, the QUANTUM WR-5246-40 is designed to push the limits of thermal testing. With input from numerous deployments, thorough field testing, and critical input from field service teams, this chamber was jointly built and standardized with one of the top three HPC leaders to meet the demands of server rack testing.

Unparalleled Performance for HPC Testing Extremes

The purpose of the QUANTUM WR-5246-40 is to replicate actual conditions that a data center might experience. Comprehensive testing for GPUs, CPUs, ASICs, and other high-power electronics is supported in this chamber. Important characteristics include:

  • Smooth Integration of Server Racks: Two complete server racks may be easily rolled in and out With the floorless design.
  • Precision Airflow Control: In data center settings, airflow maximizes static pressure to assess cooling effectiveness.
  • High-Power Load Capacity & Fast Temperature Cycling: Precise performance assessment for severe workloads in extremely hot environments.
  • Customized Solutions: It chambers can hold full-scale server racks and cooling systems, and they are made to meet the unique testing specifications of AI hardware manufacturers.
  • Large multi-pane viewing windows with LED lighting for DUT monitoring provide increased visibility and safety. handle for the inside emergency egress for the safety of the operator.
  • Large-Scale Deployments: In order to maximize testing conditions and efficiency, AES specializes in planning and implementing lab layouts for large-scale HPC testing environments. This includes taking into account elements like equipment flow, location, and data gathering.

Specifically created to satisfy the demands of contemporary server testing, the QUANTUM Series WR-5246-40 model is a high-performance variant of AES’s well-liked floor-style devices. This chamber, which was constructed with direct input from one of the biggest companies in the field, provides improved cooling efficiency, sophisticated airflow management, and a long-lasting, user-friendly design.

STRUCTURE

The durable and easy-to-use QUANTUM WR floorless design makes wheeling server racks in and out for testing easy. #4 finish 304 stainless steel ensures durability, cleanliness, and corrosion resistance in the interior. Large multi-pane viewing windows and LED lighting make the DUT visible. In the event of an emergency, a speedy escape is made possible by an inside emergency egress handle for safety.

Type 304 stainless steel is used to line the interior workplace, ensuring a vapor-tight interior structure. Two computer/server racks may be wheeled into the workspace with ease with the ramp on the heated low-profile floor. Thermal insulation with a low k-factor and high efficiency is present between the two layers.

PERFORMANCE

The purpose of this chamber is to facilitate the front-to-back airflow needed for server testing. Engineers can assess the effects of static pressure on systems according to the exact control it provideswith the changeable airflow system. More even cooling is provided by a parallel coil arrangement, guaranteeing constant working conditions across the workspace. By lowering the chamber’s moisture content and increasing uptime, the air drier system creates the ideal testing environment for delicate devices. More control over airflow is made possible by the chamber’s variable frequency drive (VFD), which regulates fan speed. Interaction with the DUT is possible through large hot access ports without the need for other peripheral equipment.

Each side features three cable access ports that are centered from front to back and evenly spaced from top to bottom. The ports on the left and right side walls are six inches in diameter.

COOLING & HEATING

For dependable and precise temperature regulation within ±0.5°C, QUANTUM WR test chambers are furnished with open multiple nichrome heaters positioned on both sides.Nichrome heaters positioned on either side of the QUANTUM WR test chamber provide accurate and dependable temperature regulation within ±0.5°C. A self-contained mechanical refrigeration system with a cascade design and a water-cooled condenser make up the cooling system. For stress testing that necessitates quick cooling, boost cooling using liquid LN2 or CO2 is a great choice for even quicker pull-down rates. The industry’s fastest change rates are offered by AES’s basic cascade refrigeration systems, even in the absence of boost cooling.

INSTRUMENTATION

AESONE CONNECT, a reliable connected device that offers a consistent and standard interface, is incorporated into the QUANTUM WR Series Test Chambers to streamline operation and test monitoring.
