The 200 GB Data-Internet Speed Link

Implementing 200 GB of welcome Standard Tier internet data per year

When companies move their computer operations to the cloud, one of their key concerns is making certain that the internet connection that occurs between their applications and their consumers is reliable, scalable, and hassle-free. On October 1, 2023, all new and existing customers of the Google Cloud Networking Standard Tier will be entitled for 200 GB of free internet data transfer each and every month.

This perk will be available for the first month of the following year. This benefit will be accessible for a period of twelve months. This offer is made available to customers in a way that differs from one retail establishment to the next, wherever those customers choose to do their business.

Standard Tier is available in at least 28 different regions of Google Cloud, and it enables the transfer of up to 6 terabytes worth of potential data each month at no extra cost. This makes the process of analysing Google Cloud easier for organisations that have just been created as well as for companies that are smaller.

Customers of Google Cloud have access to a grasp of the internet data transmissions done by Google Cloud Standard and Premium Network Service Tiers in order to connect their resources to the internet. This knowledge is offered to customers of Google Cloud. These tiers have been given names that are derived from the distinct service levels.

When virtual machines (VMs) are connected to the internet using the Standard Tier, the resulting connection is trustworthy, secure, and high-performing. Customers on the Standard Tier are granted the ability to transfer data directly between their virtual machines (VMs) and internet endpoints, without the need of going via Google Cloud’s network backbone in the process. Because the Standard Tier relies mostly on the public internet to route traffic, this is made feasible by this main dependence.

When a virtual machine (VM) that is utilising the Standard Tier connects to an internet endpoint, the traffic that is leaving Google departs at the Point of Presence (PoP) that is geographically closest to the Google Cloud region that is under discussion.

This ensures that the data is sent over the lowest feasible distance while still remaining inside our network. After then, the BGP protocol is used to route the traffic over the public internet in order for it to eventually reach its intended location.

We are ecstatic to share the news that in addition to providing 200 GB of free monthly egress, Standard Tier is now fully integrated with fundamental networking services offered by Google Cloud. These services include Cloud NAT as well as Regional Application and Network Load Balancing.

Premium Tier networking, on the other hand, directs traffic across Google Cloud’s global network backbone to the edge PoP that is physically situated the closest to the end user.

This PoP serves as the network’s edge node. Because of this, the traffic is able to make use of the premium performance, stability, and security that are made accessible by Google’s private network. Those benefits are made available to the traffic. Customers that already have apps that can fulfil these requirements will find this feature to be very appealing.

In contrast to the Premium Tier, the Standard Tier has a lot more features

A comparison of the two possibilities is provided in the table that follows:

Pricing

According to the information included in this table, each Standard Tier SKU is connected with a certain region of the world. This offer is made available in a manner that is unique to each area. After the monthly limit of 200 GB has been achieved within a given region, the traffic in that region will be subject to the standard tiered pricing structure.

These prices will continue to apply until the beginning of the next month, when the metre will be cleared and reset. The customers are not required to take any action, and the new information will be reflected automatically starting with the billing statement for the month of October.

By providing users on the Standard Tier with access to a monthly internet data transfer capacity of 200 gigabytes per region, we are enabling a greater number of customers to run their apps and make changes using Google Cloud.
