Nvidia Released RTX 4060 Benchmarks

Nvidia has recently released official benchmark results for their upcoming GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card, which is set to launch on June 29. The new graphics card, based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, demonstrates improvements over its predecessor, which was based on the Ampere architecture. However, there is a catch: the most significant advantages of the RTX 4060 are observed when AI frame generation is enabled. Without it, the card is only around 20% faster than its predecessor.

The GeForce RTX 4060 is built around the AD106 GPU, featuring 3072 CUDA cores and a peak FP32 compute throughput of 15 TFLOPS. Compared to the GeForce RTX 3060, which has 13 FP32 TFLOPS, the RTX 4060 offers a modest 15% increase in compute performance. However, the AD106 GPU showcases notable improvements in ray tracing performance (+40%) and Tensor compute throughput (+137%). The latter enhancement enables the utilization of AI, advanced DLSS 3 upscaling, and AI image generation workloads. These improvements aim to position the RTX 4060 as one of the top graphics cards on the market.

Nvidia has primarily showcased the GeForce RTX 4060 with DLSS 3 and image generation enabled in various games, highlighting significant performance gains compared to the GeForce RTX 3060. This improvement allows the new graphics card to achieve high framerates while maintaining visually stunning graphics in the latest games, a feat that the RTX 3060 struggles to accomplish.

However, Nvidia acknowledges that not all games support AI frame generation, resulting in the GeForce RTX 4060 being only 20% faster than its predecessor in those scenarios. While a 20% improvement is still noteworthy, it may be seen as less impressive for a new generation product based on an entirely new architecture.

Nvidia also touts the lower power consumption of the GeForce RTX 4060 as an advantage, which can lead to cost savings. However, this advantage is considered less prominent than the performance gains achieved by the card.

Leading graphics card manufacturers, including Asus, Colorful, Gainward, Galax, Gigabyte, Inno3D, KFA2, MSI, Palit, PNY, and Zotac, will be releasing their versions of the GeForce RTX 4060 starting June 29. Nvidia has set the recommended price for the GeForce RTX 4060 at $299, but variations in pricing across different products are expected.
