Modern Warfare III: What to Expect

There are rumours that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III launch maps will just be remastered versions of MWII(2009)Maps

The evolution of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (2023) has been marked by a number of inconsistencies and question marks throughout its development history. It all started in February 2022 when a reliable report was published by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier stating that this year will be the first year since 2004 in which the Call of Duty franchise would not have a brand new, premium, annual mainline release. According to that source, the gap would be filled by downloadable content for Modern Warfare II (2022) as well as a free-to-play game developed by Treyarch.

The latter project, which was later described in greater detail by leaker Tom Henderson as “Project Nexus,” is likely tied to zombies in some way. However, not long after that, Activision said that they have ‘premium content’ planned for 2023 and beyond. Another famous Call of Duty leaker stated in October 2022 that Modern Warfare II would receive downloadable content in the form of a campaign as well as a map pack in the latter half of 2023. At this moment, everyone believed that the publisher was referring to that as the “premium content” that was mentioned earlier. In November 2022, Schreier once again added fuel to the fire by commenting that Sledgehammer will be the developer of the paid expansion and would feature “lots of content” in the downloadable content (DLC). At that time, he continued to assert that the following game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, would not be released until the year 2024.

The consensus among industry insiders, however, shifted in February of 2023. Within Activision, Tom Henderson was the first person to report a change in plans. These expansion ideas were refocused by the publisher into a full premium release inside the Modern Warfare subseries, which was given the title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.

Henderson also disclosed the complete public rollout for this brand new game, which is as follows:

The first beta weekend will be place on PS4 and PS5 between October 6 and October 10, 2023.

Beta weekend 2 will take place from October 12 to October 16 in 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Early Access to the Campaign (PS4 and PS5) will begin on November 2, 2023

Complete Launch (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC): November 10, 2023

The week before last, the release date was officially announced, therefore it is reasonable to presume that the remainder of the timetable is authentic, as well. Activision also ‘corroborated’ earlier rumours and made the announcement that Operators, Weapons, and Bundles from the game released the year before would carry over to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. The announcement was made in the previous month. A few days ago, we were given more information indicating that there may be certain elements missing, including:

There is a possibility that some of the content will not be accessible if Modern Warfare III features a different set of gameplay options. For instance, if MWIII does not include the Tactical Amphibious Vehicle or a certain piece of Tactical or Lethal Equipment in any of the game modes, any Skins that you unlocked for these items in MWII will not be available in MWIII. This also applies to any Skins that you unlocked for these items in MWI. In addition, the music known as Wartracks will not be carried over from the previous game to the third.

There is a new rumour circulating about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, and if it turns out to be true, fans are going to be very upset.

The launch maps for this new game are simply updated copies of the levels that were included in Modern Warfare II in 2009.

It would become even more obvious in this way that Modern Warfare III was only ever intended to be an expansion pack, despite the fact that Activision is most certainly going to sell it at its full price now. Other Call of Duty leakers, such as ProReborn and TheGhostOfHope, are hinting that some major and maybe unpleasant news is about to hit the franchise in the near future. However, it is not obvious whether this news is connected to the rumour that launch maps will be changed.

In any case, there are only two days left until we start receiving more official data directly from Activision.
