In order to assist users track irregular heart rhythms and obtain deeper insights into heart health, a new Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification tool has been added to the current ECG and Blood Pressure monitoring.
Samsung Electronics has announced that the Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN) feature on the Samsung Health Monitor app will soon be available in 13 markets, starting this summer. This feature, combined with the app’s existing Blood Pressure and Electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring capabilities, detects heart rhythms suggestive of atrial fibrillation (AFib), providing Galaxy Watch users with comprehensive insights into their heart health.
The IHRN feature recently received approval from the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), following clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It will be introduced in Argentina, Azerbaijan, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Georgia, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Panama, UAE, as well as Korea and the U.S., making a total of 13 markets where it will be available.
In addition to the on-demand ECG tracking, the IHRN feature continuously checks for irregular heart rhythms in the background and alerts the user to potential AFib activity. When combined with the existing Blood Pressure and Heart Rate monitoring features, users can gain deeper insights into their cardiovascular health.
Since its launch in 2020, the Samsung Health Monitor app has expanded to 74 markets worldwide. More than 15 million Galaxy Watch users have been able to track their blood pressure and ECG directly from their wrist, gaining a better understanding of their heart health by continuously monitoring and recording these vital signs.

By providing features like blood pressure measurement and irregular heart rhythm notification, Samsung aims to help users stay informed about their heart health effortlessly, day and night.
The Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification feature will first be available on upcoming Galaxy Watch devices later this year as part of the new One UI 5 Watch, and it will later be expanded to previous editions of the Galaxy Watch. This advancement reflects Samsung’s ongoing efforts to provide users with easy access to comprehensive health and wellness insights.
