Drop ALT Keyboards Updates

E-commerce corporation that is customer-driven has released new keyboards with improved versions of its CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT keys. These keyboards were first released in 2018 and were built based on input from the Drop community. Since then, they have been best-sellers because they provide an enticing mix of customizable features and high-quality construction. The new V2 iterations of the Drop CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT keyboards combine an iconic, completely aluminum design with outstanding RGB lighting performance, increased functionality, and enhanced performance to give an unrivaled typing experience to users who are looking to upgrade their workplace sets.

The CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT V2 keyboards contain a number of upgrades that are an improvement on the earlier keyboards. These upgrades include the following:

Plate-mounted Drop Phantom Stabilizers are among the most often sought modifications for the stabilizers. These upgrades improve the sound produced by the huge modifier keys and make playing the keyboard more enjoyable.

Additional layers of quality foam throughout the keyboard, including Poron top case foam, IXPE switch foam, Poron hotswap socket foam, and bottom case Poron foam, give enhanced sound and performance for a more enjoyable experience while typing. This includes improved sound dampening.

New switch choices

Drop has chosen two switch alternatives that are popular with the community. These are the Gateron Yellow KS3 Linear switches and the Drop Holy Panda X Clear tactile switches. The enthusiasts and users who are interested in making their own keyboard have the option to buy a version that is stripped down to its essential components.

Increased LED customisation is made possible by the inclusion of a user-friendly interface for modification, which is made possible by the new Keyboard Configurator software that Drop has released.

Improvements to the lighting

The incorporation of the STM32 chipset allows for quicker and simpler support for the most recent QMK capabilities, in addition to the addition of fifty new LED patterns that can be simply selected by using the hot buttons on the keyboard.

Expanded compatibility

The support for VIA and QMK allows for a wider range of compatibility choices (support for VIAL will be added later on this year).

New colorway

The SHIFT V2 keyboard now comes in a variety of colorways, including a new black hue option.

In addition to these brand-new functions, the CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT V2 keyboards nevertheless maintain the traditional traits that have contributed to their widespread adoption. The keyboards are built using the same aircraft-grade aluminum components that are machined from a solid block of aluminum, and they are made according to manufacturing standards for a high-quality construction. LEDs are positioned such that they face north so that users may take use of the amazing RGB capabilities of the keyboards.

Users who want bright, shine-through keycap sets will notice that the LEDs sparkle brilliantly along the edges of the keyboard. The keyboards are also still multi-functional with two USB-C ports that not only ease cable management but also act as a USB hub for connecting more devices to improve the overall usefulness and adaptability of the keyboards, providing a more seamless setup with less visual clutter. In addition, the dual USB-C ports on the keyboards are backwards compatible with older versions of USB, so they can be used to connect older devices.

“The new and improved CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT V2 keyboards represent a leap forward in design, performance, and functionality while preserving the cherished qualities that made their predecessors beloved by our community,” said Jef Holove, CEO of Drop. “These keyboards represent a leap forward in design, performance, and functionality while also preserving the cherished qualities that made their predecessors beloved by our community.” “We offer the community an upgraded and unparalleled typing experience that will make them fall in love with these reinvented, classic keyboards all over again.” “With the addition of highly requested features such as stabilizer upgrades, new switch options, and enhanced RGB LED capabilities,”

On the Drop website, customers may now buy the CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT V2 keyboards in either a barebones or fully constructed configuration. These options were not previously accessible. The keyboards that are disassembled cost between $140 and $190, while the keyboards that are completely constructed cost between $180 and $250. Current customers who already own the original versions of the CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT keyboards can also purchase the PCBA + foam kit and Phantom Stabilizers starting at $105 to upgrade their current model as a more cost-effective and waste-minimizing alternative to purchasing a brand-new keyboard. This option is particularly useful for customers who are interested in restoring and upgrading their own equipment.
