Collaboration Benefits with Google Assured Workloads for DoD

Customers of the Department of Defence (DoD) can now use Assured Workloads to deploy DoD SRG Impact Level 5 (IL5) workloads on Google Cloud, giving them unmatched flexibility in any of Google’s U.S. regions, including one of the largest publicly accessible machine learning centres in the world. Of all cloud service providers, Google offers the largest data centre footprint for IL5 workloads.

We have made 10 services available at IL5 since Google Cloud’s 2022 announcement on DoD IL5 workloads and our pledge to rapidly grow Google Cloud services with IL5 permission. We will keep expanding those services and provide updates as more become available.

The following accredited services are now part of Google’s IL5-authorization:

• The Admin Console

  • Large Query

• KMS for Cloud Key Management

• HSM for Cloud Hardware Security

Cloud Identification

• GCS, or Google Cloud Storage

• GCE, or Google Compute Engine

• IAM, or identity and access management

• Constant Disc

• VPC, or virtual private cloud

These new offerings are a part of Google’s continuous efforts to speed up the digital transformation of American public sector organisations. For instance, the U.S. Army uses Google Cloud BigQuery to combine disparate data sources into a single location for data analysis and mission data insights. Using the processing power of Google’s cloud infrastructure, Big Query, a fully managed and entirely serverless enterprise data warehouse that supports all data types, enables blazing-fast queries at petabyte scale. It also has built-in machine learning and business intelligence.

DoD customers may begin moving away from outdated security methods and towards a more adaptable and scalable infrastructure that satisfies the demands of their modern workforce thanks to Google’s recently authorised DoD SRG services.

Increasing the military’s infrastructure for safe cloud computing

We are pleased that Accenture Federal Services’ Cloud Account Management and Optimisation (CAMO) contract with the Army now includes Google Cloud. The Army will have access to cutting-edge technology, international private networks, vast data centre resources, and top-notch artificial intelligence tools thanks to this arrangement.

Global private network, hybrid and multi-cloud solutions, and enterprise data warehousing are just a few of Google Cloud’s abundant resources. With nine regions and 29 data centres accessible at IL5, including one of the largest publicly accessible machine learning hubs with Cloud TPU v4 and 90% carbon-free energy, Google offers the greatest data centre footprint for IL5 applications of any cloud service provider. The strong infrastructure’s unequalled speed, dependability, and scalability let the military react quickly to shifting demands. This access can also promote data sovereignty and stringent regulation compliance, enhancing the safeguarding of sensitive data.

At the size of commercial clouds, security and compliance

Google has a fundamentally different and more scalable approach to cloud security, size, and innovation than traditional government clouds. To get military-grade accreditation, we employ security procedures and our commercial cloud infrastructure. With the opportunity to employ the most recent features offered in the commercial cloud and while adhering to compliance regulations, this strategy is intended to be more innovative, efficient, and secure.

We are committed to continuing to back developments in defence technology.
