The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12S demonstrates that the more compact Note is not without its own set of benefits

The screen of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12S measures 6.43 inches, making it much smaller than the screens on most other smartphones. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12S may be described as being more compact, but it has not been reduced in size in any way. The following is a condensed version of the findings from our most current assessment of the reasonably priced mid-range smartphone.

Xiaomi Redmi

It might be difficult to keep track of the many smartphone models offered by Xiaomi if you browse through their website. This year, there are 5 different models in only the Redmi Note series. One of these, known as the Redmi Note 12S, is easily identifiable in the physical world merely due to the fact that it is a lot more compact than the previous models in the series. It weighs 176 grammes, making it a rather lightweight smartphone, and it is just 4 grammes heavier than the Zenfone 10, which is an even more tiny smartphone.

If you purchase the Redmi Note 12S from Amazon.com in the United States, you have the option of purchasing the variant with 8 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM) and 256 gigabytes of mass storage for $218, Onyx Black for $214.75, or Pearl Green for $213.75. UFS 2.2 is used as the storage medium rather of the more inefficient eMMC flash. Regrettably, the memory controller does not take advantage of the speed potential to its fullest.

In all other respects, the performance of the smartphone is commensurate with its cost, even though the system-on-a-chip (SoC) MediaTek Helio G96 is getting on in years. It is typically sufficient for day-to-day use, and some challenging jobs, like picture processing, may be completed relatively rapidly with it. The system is only pushed to its limits by really complicated applications and simultaneous tasking.

PWM flickering on the otherwise fantastic AMOLED screen, which cannot be alleviated by DC dimming, is one of the things that irritates us about the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12S. Other things that upset us include the battery life and the price. Or the shoddy tracking that results in our route records showing us repeatedly walking through barriers or across rivers when we shouldn’t have. Additionally annoying are the system advertising and the numerous third-party apps that come pre-installed on the device.

In our WLAN test, the smartphone’s battery lasted for about 16 hours, and charging it took just 33 watts of power, thus it can be said that the device charges quite rapidly. The only material used in the construction of the casing is plastic, yet despite its simple appearance and composition, it is robust.
