Intel’s New Arc A60 GPUs

Intel has recently introduced two new Arc Alchemist graphics cards targeted at the workstation market: the Arc Pro A60 desktop card and the Arc Pro A60M mobile GPU. These GPUs offer improved performance compared to Intel’s previous workstation solutions, with more GPU cores and memory.

The Arc Pro A60 features 16 Xe Cores, 256 EUs, 16 RT units, and 256 matrix engines. It comes with 12GB of GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit bus, which is a notable upgrade compared to previous desktop offerings. The mobile A60M has similar specifications but with 8GB of memory on a 128-bit bus. The power consumption for the A60 is rated at 130W TBP, while the mobile A60M has a peak power consumption of 95W.

Both GPUs also feature an increase in PCIe lanes, from 8 lanes in previous Pro GPUs to 16 lanes. This improvement applies to the mobile variant as well, making it one of the few mobile GPUs to support 16-lane configurations. The previous Arc Pro solutions utilized the ACM-G11 chip, but the new Pro A60 series utilizes the ACM-G12 chip, which offers better performance.

One notable feature of the Arc Pro A60 is its compact single-slot cooling solution, which enhances system compatibility and allows it to fit into a wide range of chassis. The card has a blower-style cooling design with a single fan at the rear, and it features a textured matte black finish with glossy characters displaying the model name. It also offers a full stack of display outputs, including four DisplayPort 2.1 HBM10 connectors.

While the Pro A60 series brings improvements in PCIe lanes and VRAM capacity, it may not deliver top-tier performance. The Arc A770, for example, offers double the computing power with 32 Xe Cores. However, the A60 series can still be a competitive choice for users in the lower-tier workstation market, offering ample PCIe bandwidth and VRAM capacity, especially in the case of the desktop card. Intel’s Arc Pro GPUs also come with optimized drivers for workstation applications like Autodesk, further enhancing their appeal for professional users.
