The Galaxy Z Fold 6’s next generation has been rumored for months. A major change in approach seems to have occurred, notwithstanding early rumors of a possible “Fold FE” (Fan Edition) intended to provide a more accessible entry point. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra is the next rumor that has surfaced in place of the Fold FE. In a daring move, Samsung is about to introduce this high-end model alongside the regular Z Fold 6, upending the foldable phone industry.

This article explores the possible features, launch schedule, and consequences for Samsung’s foldable product line as it digs into this intriguing rumor.

360-Degree Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

The 360-degree Galaxy Z Fold 6 design, created with OnLeaks, matches the Galaxy S24 series flat sides. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 unfolds in dark gray a few seconds into the 360-degree view video. Phantom Black may be this hue.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a boxy frame like Samsung’s current top S24 series. Three microphones and a speaker grill are on top, while a USB-C port, another microphone, and a speaker grill are on the bottom.

The 3D models also show the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s Galaxy S24 Ultra (review)-style speaker grill design. A fingerprint scanner is incorporated in the power button, volume rockers are on the right, and the SIM card slot is on the left.

Like its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a triple back camera system with a flash. The inside screen has the notorious under-display selfie camera and the outside screen has a punch-hole selfie camera.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 Expected Details

As seen in images and above, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will feature a 6.2-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display.

The outer display should use Corning Gorilla Glass Armor, but the interior display will be plastic or ultra-thin glass, as Samsung describes it. A 2,600-Nit peak brightness is also expected.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy processor, included in the company’s newest flagship series, is likely to power the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Also included are 12 or 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The phone’s cameras may be Galaxy Z Fold 5 sensors. A 50 MP + 12 MP + 10 MP back camera system, a 10 MP selfie camera, and a 4 MP under-display camera on the inner screen are expected.

The 25W charging speed and battery size should also stay the same. The phone should come with One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14 with 7 major OS upgrades and 7 years of security patches. Like the other flagships, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 should include Galaxy AI capabilities like Circle to Search, Chat Assist, Live Translate, etc. We anticipate the business to add AI-based capabilities that take use of the bigger screen and the device’s flippable design and two displays. Like the Galaxy S24 series, the phone should give seven years of software upgrades.

Date of Launch and Possible Cost

The Z Fold6 and Z Fold 6 Ultra are reportedly scheduled to be on sale in mid-July 2024, which might be an earlier release date than in prior generations. Another suspected launch destination is Paris, which would be a departure from Samsung’s customary launch sites in the US or South Korea.

Now that the Ultra model is available, cost becomes an important consideration. Like its predecessors, the basic Z Fold 6 is anticipated to be expensive. But with its possibly top-tier specs, the Z Fold 6 Ultra may considerably push the envelope on pricing even more, turning it into a really high-end gadget.

Screen and Dimensions of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

According to renderings, the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s inner screen is 7.6 inches diagonally and the smartphone unfolds to 153.5 x 132.5 x 6.1 mm. Front-facing Galaxy Z Fold 6 cover display is 6.2 inches.

While the Galaxy Z Fold 5 (review) measures 154.9 x 129.9 x 6.1 mm (unfolded), the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 1.4 mm shorter and 2.6 mm broader.

We expected a more significant design shift for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, but Samsung is being more subtle. Similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the OnePlus Open (review) is taller but broader and slimmer. Last week, we released Google Pixel Fold 2 CAD images that are bigger and thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 has the same thickness as its predecessor (6.1 mm), therefore Samsung is likely adopting the droplet-style hinge. S Pen mount and storage are absent from the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

The Z Fold 6 Ultra’s success may have the following effects

Additional Innovation: Should the Ultra model be a success, it may open the door for Samsung and other manufacturers to innovate and develop foldable technology even further.

Market segmentation: With the launch of the Ultra, Samsung has distinguished its regular and premium foldable products, which may draw in a wider spectrum of customers with different spending limits.

Price Competition: Other manufacturers may decide to modify their pricing strategy for other foldable devices in response to the Ultra’s possible high price tag. This might lead to a price war or a concentration on certain market groups within the foldable field.

The market’s response to the Z Fold 6 Ultra and its possible influence on the foldable phone industry are yet to be seen.
One thing is apparent, though: Samsung’s move to possibly drop the Fold FE in favor of a more expensive Ultra variant is a risky development in the field of foldable technology.

Notice

Finally, an Unpacked event in late July 2024 should unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Early purchasers should have the gadget by August 2024.
