Improve partner cooperation and business insights

Real-time insight and operational visibility can be achieved by integrating your transactional, business-to-business data into a single data lake. Accelerate downstream data integrations into supply chain management (SCM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and other business-critical systems by increasing trading partner connectivity and automating the transformation of electronic data interchange (EDI) documents using AWS B2B Data Interchange.

Grow your company that distributes content

Increase your subscriber base by offering a variety of connectivity choices. Use fine-grained, integrated access controls to safeguard your profits.

Make it easier to share data with your partners and employees

Give verified users easy, safe, and federated browser-based access to data stored on Amazon S3.

Features of the AWS Transfer Family

Infrastructure that is completely managed and highly available

File transfers via SFTP, FTPS, FTP, and AS2 into and out of AWS Storage services are entirely managed by the AWS Transfer Family. By keeping your current client-side firewall, access, and authentication setups, you can easily automate, monitor, and migrate your file transfer workflows. This way, your clients, partners, internal teams, and their apps won’t experience any changes.

All of the computing, storage, and other infrastructure required to keep your endpoint and your connectors operating and performing at high availability and performance is transparently managed by AWS. Your resources are made to be accessible around-the-clock, every day of the year. Within an AWS Region, you have complete redundancy across several Availability Zones.

Resources that are flexible

Your fluctuating workloads can be accommodated by the AWS Transfer Family’s elastic compute infrastructure. If your data loads increase over time, you won’t ever have to worry about allocating more resources with built-in autoscaling. If workloads increase on particular days of the month or during specific hours of the day, you don’t need to worry.

Supports a variety of user authentication techniques

Common user authentication mechanisms for your endpoints, such as Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and Microsoft Active Directory, are supported by the AWS Transfer Family. As an alternative, you may decide to save and control user credentials within the service itself. You can guarantee that your external users will always have the appropriate, secure level of access to your data resources by linking your current identity provider to the AWS Transfer Family service.

Natively stored data in Amazon Storage services

To speed up the extraction of business insights, store the files you exchange as objects in your Amazon EFS file system or Amazon S3 bucket. The main factor that enables this exchange is that AWS Transfer Family preserves pertinent file metadata while storing your data natively in S3 or EFS. For instance, you can use Amazon Translate to make process papers better suited for global audiences if your files are housed on Amazon S3.

Relationships and insights can also be extracted from text files using Amazon Comprehend, and historical data can be analyzed by querying CSV files using Amazon Athena. Similar to this, you can immediately interface your ERP system with EFS files so that you can access them when your business partners arrive.

Basic user interface

Setting up client access and configuring your SFTP, FTPS, FTP, or AS2 endpoint is made easy by an easy-to-use user interface and API. The service supports popular SFTP clients for external users, including WinSCP, FileZilla, and scripts. Users can continue exchanging data with you on the cloud without altering their behaviour. Additionally, you can set up connectors to access files on distant servers that are hosted by your on-site locations or business partners.

Comprehensive and well-known AWS management services

With the AWS Transfer Family, you can utilize Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring and event triggers to initiate post-upload processing, as well as AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) for security and identity management. To manage encryption at rest, you can use Customer Managed Keys with Amazon EFS, Amazon S3 server-side encryption, or AWS Key Management Service (AWS KMS). Additionally, AWS CloudTrail‘s granular auditing of user and API activities assists you in meeting compliance obligations.

AWS Transfer Family pricing

There are no up-front expenses or resources to manage while using Transfer Family. The protocols that are enabled on your server endpoints, the volume of data (gigabytes) that is uploaded and downloaded via SFTP, FTPS, or FTP, the quantity of messages sent or received via AS2, and the volume of data processed by Transfer Family processes are the only things you pay for. You pay for the quantity of data delivered or retrieved as well as the number of connector calls when connecting to distant SFTP servers via SFTP connectors. You only have to pay for the web app units when using Transfer Family web apps.

Note: For Transfer Family servers, you have a maximum of three Availability Zones (AZs) to select from. Having several AZs for a server does not come with any extra costs. For more information visit the AWS transfer family pricing page.
