Following the unveiling of the iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Series 9, Apple will have another event. The ceremony could take place in October or November, and the major attraction will be the new M3 microprocessor. We’ve already heard that Apple will release a few upgraded Macs using the upcoming M3 CPU later this year. The company is constantly testing fresh Macs that will be upgraded with the new processor. According to the latest reports, Apple is testing a new version of the Mac mini with the new M3 CPU.
Apple has tested an updated Mac mini with an M3 CPU that has the same number of cores as the M2 chip, but you may expect significant performance benefits.
We already compiled a list of all the Macs that might be upgraded with the M3 chip this year. The Mac mini, on the other hand, is not on the list. According to Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, new Macs have surfaced on third-party developer logs, including a slew of Macs that the business is working on. The following Macs are on the list:
- M3 13-Inch MacBook Air
- M3 15-iNch MacBook Air
- M3 13-Inch MacBook Pro
- M3 24-inch iMac
- M3 Pro and M3 Max 14-inch and 16-Inch MacBook Pro models.
- M3 Mac mini
Later this year, Apple may release the M3 MacBook Air variants, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and iMac. The high-end MacBook Pro models and the Mac mini, on the other hand, could be introduced next year. This is because the Mac mini now has improved internals, such as the M2 Pro microprocessor. Given that the M2 Pro chip will not be released until next year, it makes sense to launch the machine alongside the high-end MacBook Pro models. However, the Mac mini with an M3 CPU could be released later this year, with the M3 Pro variant arriving next year.

Apple’s M3 processor will be manufactured on TSMC’s 3nm technology, which will improve not only computational and graphics performance but also battery life on MacBooks. The M3 processor will be able to extend the battery life of the MacBook Pro by an hour or two due to its low power consumption. While these are just rumors, the business will take center stage later this year to publicly reveal specifics on the new M3 CPU and Mac mini.
