Amazon Q Business provides workflow automation and 50+ action integrations
Earlier this year, Amazon Q Business, a generative AI-powered assistant intended to boost productivity across a range of commercial apps, went on sale. Amazon Q Business has been assisting clients in overcoming the obstacles associated with increasing worker productivity since its inception.
There are two announcements for AWS Q Business in this post:
- Workflow automation driven by AI in AWS Q Business (coming soon)
- More than fifty action integrations are supported (usually accessible)
Let’s start with these recent Amazon Q Business announcements:
Workflow automation driven by AI in AWS Q Business (coming soon)
Hundreds or perhaps thousands of intricate operations that require accurate, repeatable execution are handled by organizations. The process of automating these procedures has been laborious, sometimes requiring months of work and specialized knowledge. Many potentially beneficial corporate activities are thus still done by hand, which results in inefficiencies and lost opportunities.
AWS Q Business will soon have a new feature that makes it easier to create and manage intricate business processes.
With this feature, all you have to do is submit a standard operating procedure (SOP), take a video of the process being carried out, or use natural language to explain the workflow you want. In only a few minutes, AWS Q Business can automatically create a comprehensive work plan based on your inputs using generative AI. You can then evaluate, test, adjust, or approve using the suggested workflow.
Over 50 action integrations are supported
You may connect to third-party apps and carry out particular operations pertaining to supported third-party services right within your online experience chat with Amazon Q Business plugins. Amazon Q Apps, a feature of AWS Q Business that enables you to develop AI-powered apps that optimize workflows and increase productivity, provides access to these plugins. Additionally, you will be able to include these plugins straight into your workflows whenever workflow automation features are released.
With this announcement, to launching a ready-to-use library of platforms that includes 11 well-known business apps and more than 50 action connectors. Among these business apps are Salesforce, ServiceNow, Pager Duty Advance, Microsoft Teams, and others.

In every AWS region where AWS Q Business is accessible, the updated plugins are now available. Soon, a preview of Amazon Q Business’s new workflow orchestration feature will be accessible.
ISVs Develop Generative AI
Businesses have been utilising AWS Q Business since its inception to increase employee productivity by providing them with a generative AI-powered assistant that aids in decision-making based on corporate data and information. To do their work, employees also utilize a variety of software programs offered by independent software suppliers (ISVs). In an effort to increase user productivity, several ISVs are developing their own generative AI capabilities. However, because ISVs are frequently restricted to data within their own applications, end users still need to switch between apps in order to finish tasks.
Inevitably are thrilled to present new Amazon Q Business features for ISVs today. ISVs may now personalize the appearance of their Amazon Q embedded assistant and interface with the Amazon Q index to retrieve data from many sources using a single API.
By utilising enterprise knowledge and user context across various software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications, these new capabilities allow ISVs and application developers to quickly implement personalized, AI-powered experiences within their applications. Additionally, they can accelerate their generative AI roadmap with AWS Q Business capabilities.
Use the Amazon Q index to provide more data to your generative AI features
In addition to enhancing their current generative AI and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) workflows with their preferred large language models (LLMs), this new capability allows ISVs to access content and context from outside their application, enabling them to create richer experiences and increase engagement and retention. Crucially, clients have total control over which apps may access their data and retain full ownership of their index.
To enable their clients to provide access to their indexed data, software vendors register their apps with Amazon Q Business. Software companies may leverage this extra information to improve their integrated generative AI capabilities after verification, giving clients more individualized solutions.
There are two ways for ISVs to enroll their clients to utilize this new cross-application experience after they have finished integrating with the Amazon Q index.
- Onboarding via the application of the ISV Customers use the ISV’s platform to start the process. For every customer, the ISV builds an AWS Q Business application and index. In order to connect more data sources, customers subsequently give the ISV their login credentials. In this case, the user interface and onboarding process are entirely under the ISV’s control.
- Using the AWS Management Console for onboarding Through the AWS dashboard, customers may simply construct their Amazon Q Business application, link data sources, and allow ISV access to their index. Verified ISVs will appear on the AWS Q Business interface as “data accessors.” When the ISV has finished the aforementioned verification procedure and is prepared to offer their client experience, they are given this verification status.
Currently accessible
In the US East (N. Virginia) and US West (Oregon) AWS Regions, the Amazon Q index and Amazon Q integrated with customizable user interface are currently broadly accessible, and availability in more AWS Regions is on the horizon.
