Independent Software Vendors(ISVs) may now improve generative AI experiences with to new features from Amazon Q Business. Businesses have been utilising Amazon Q Business since its inception to increase employee productivity by providing them with a generative AI-powered assistant that aids in decision-making based on corporate data and information. To do their work, employees also utilize a variety of software programs offered by Independent Software Vendors(ISVs).
In an effort to increase user productivity, several ISVs are developing their own generative AI capabilities. However, because ISVs are frequently restricted to data within their own applications, end users still need to switch between apps in order to finish tasks.
We are thrilled to present new Amazon Q Business features for ISVs today. Independent Software Vendors may now personalize the appearance of their Amazon Q embedded assistant and interface with the Amazon Q index to retrieve data from many sources using a single API.
By utilising enterprise knowledge and user context across various software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications, these new capabilities allow Independent Software Vendors and application developers to quickly implement personalized, AI-powered experiences within their applications. Additionally, they can accelerate their generative AI roadmap with Amazon Q Business capabilities.
Use the Amazon Q index to provide more data to your generative AI features
In addition to enhancing their current generative AI and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) workflows with their preferred large language models (LLMs), this new capability allows Independent Software Vendors(ISVs) to access content and context from outside their application, enabling them to create richer experiences and increase engagement and retention. Crucially, clients have total control over which apps may access their data and retain full ownership of their index.
To enable their clients to provide access to their indexed data, software vendors register their apps with Amazon Q Business. Software companies may leverage this extra information to improve their integrated generative AI capabilities after verification, giving clients more individualized solutions.
There are two ways for Independent Software Vendors(ISVs) to enroll their clients to utilise this new cross-application experience after they have finished integrating with the Amazon Q index.
- Onboarding using the ISV application: Clients use the ISV platform to start the process. For every customer, the ISV builds an Amazon Q Business application and index. In order to connect more data sources, customers subsequently give the ISV their login credentials. In this case, the user interface and onboarding process are entirely under the ISV’s control.
- Using AWS Management: Console for onboarding Through the AWS dashboard, customers may simply construct their Amazon Q Business application, link data sources, and allow ISV access to their index. Verified Independent Software Vendors(ISVs) will appear on the Amazon Q Business interface as “data accessors.” When the ISV has finished the aforementioned verification procedure and is prepared to offer their client experience, they are given this verification status.
We’ll then go over how a client may allow a validated ISV to access their current index.
Customers can provide access to verified ISVs after creating their application and adding their index. This may be accomplished by first selecting Data accessors from the navigation panel on the left, and then selecting Add data accessor.
Customers may discover a list of all verified Independent Software Vendors(ISVs) apps on the Add data accessor page. The client configures the data that the ISV may access after choosing the ISV application. Additionally, the client selects which users will have access to the upgraded capabilities of the ISV.
Customers must link their Amazon Q Business application in the ISV’s admin panel to finish the setup after access has been granted. After finishing, ISVs may start utilising the SearchRelevantContent API to extract data from the index in order to enhance their generative AI skills.
Personalize the embedded assistant’s appearance
By integrating an AI-powered assistant into their user experience, Amazon Q integrated enables Independent Software Vendors(ISVs) to provide Amazon Q Business to their end consumers. This feature aids ISV users in completing a number of activities, including document summarization and question answering.
The user interface (UI) of the embeddable generative-AI assistant with Amazon Q integrated may now be customized by software providers to fit their company identity. Choose Customize web experience after selecting Amazon Q, which is incorporated in the left navigation panel, to begin.
To begin altering the appearance and feel of the generative AI assistant’s user interface, choose Theme on this page. This includes setting the assistant’s name, welcome message, color scheme, and logo.
Accessible right now
In the US East (N. Virginia) and US West (Oregon) AWS Regions, the Amazon Q index and Amazon Q integrated with customisable user interface are currently broadly accessible, and availability in more AWS Regions is on the horizon.
Independent Software Vendors(ISVs) may now innovate and improve their user experiences with strong AI capabilities by utilising Amazon Q Business services.
