MKB i83 Keyboard Features
With the release of the MKB i83, Minisforum has joined the mechanical keyboard industry. It should come as no surprise to an expert in small PCs that the company’s initial input peripheral has a tiny design. As the name of the keyboard implies, it has a tiny 83-key layout, which is accurate. Anodized aluminum body, triple-mode connection, hot-swap keyswitches, double-shot PBT keycaps, Kailh MX Red switches, RGB lights, and more distinguish the MKB i83.
The Minisforum email said that the MKB i83 mechanical keyboard would provide a “full desktop environment.” New keyboards and mice may be available shortly.
A press release highlights that the Minisforum MKB i83 is a high-end product. Such a regularly handled peripheral makes properly chosen materials, such as PBT and aluminum, quite welcome. Certain schematics depict the keyboard crossing off additional design check boxes, such as the inclusion of a silicon mat between the components, a sound-dampening foam layer, and a wraparound metal base (available in silver, blue, or orange).
Customization options like RGB lighting settings and hot-swap keyswitch changing (linear Kailh reds are included) improve things even more. The bundle includes a keyswitch replacing tool and a keycap.
The build quality, feel, acoustics, and other factors would need to be experienced firsthand with an MKB i83 sample, even though the switches are a known quality.

You may review the Minisforum MKB i83’s primary specifications above to identify its advantages and disadvantages. Flexible connectivity on the keyboard seems like a particularly appealing option if you want to use this accessory with many devices. Naturally, the internal battery will have an impact while using the device in wireless mode, however Minisforum has not released battery life statistics for 2.4G and Bluetooth connected modes with RGB lighting enabled. All we know is that the keyboard battery should last around 300 hours when RGB is off.
Direct pricing for the MKB i83 is $99 at Minisforum. When they check out, they will see that the correct shipping and taxes have been applied to the total. Sales options appear to be restricted to models in silver, blue, and black, despite several photos showing orange, silver, and blue case versions.
With its newly hinted-at Hawk Point APU packed tablet/convertible, Minisforum has already demonstrated that it is expanding its scope beyond the mini PC industry. Additionally, it consistently develops Mini PCs that push the boundaries, such as the external GPU-hosting Mini-ITX design, the open-air design, and the small motherboard with mobile CPU offering.
