Samsung Electronics has announced the global launch of the Odyssey OLED G9 gaming monitor, which incorporates advanced AI upscaling technology. This monitor, following the success of the Odyssey OLED G8, aims to set a new standard for OLED gaming.
the Odyssey OLED G9 features a 49-inch size with a 1800R curvature, making it the first OLED monitor to offer Dual Quad High Definition (DQHD) resolution with a 32:9 ratio (5,120 x 1,440 pixels). The wide screen ratio provides an immersive super-ultrawide viewing experience, equivalent to two QHD screens placed side by side. It boasts a rapid 0.03ms gray-to-gray (GtG) response time and a 240Hz refresh rate, which provides gamers with a competitive edge.
One of the standout features of the Odyssey OLED G9 is the inclusion of the Neo Quantum Processor Pro, which utilizes a deep learning algorithm to intelligently analyze and enhance images. This AI upscaling technology adjusts brightness and contrast to restore every detail and deliver stunning visuals, pixel by pixel.
The monitor is further enhanced with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, ensuring a smooth gaming experience. With DisplayHDR True Black 400, it offers incredible details and vivid colors, regardless of the game or content being viewed.
The Odyssey OLED G9 features a slim design housed in a sleek metal frame. It includes CoreSync and Core Lighting+ on the back of the monitor, utilizing advanced lighting technology to match on-screen colors, creating a more immersive gaming experience. The built-in stereo speakers provide crisp sound to complement the visuals.
In terms of functionality, the Odyssey OLED G9 is equipped with the Samsung Gaming Hub and smart TV apps, providing access to streaming, gaming services, and entertainment in one place. Users can watch their favorite shows from leading OTT service providers without needing a PC or mobile device. The Multi View feature enables gameplay on up to two screens simultaneously, eliminating the need for a multiple-monitor setup.
Connectivity options include HDMI 2.1, Micro HDMI 2.1, Display Port 1.4, and Auto Source Switch+, ensuring seamless connections from a central USB hub. The Height Adjustable Stand (HAS) allows users to find the perfect gaming or viewing position.
The Odyssey OLED G9 series also includes the G93SC model, which offers the same OLED performance but caters to those who prefer a solution without the Gaming Hub or smart TV offerings.
The Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SC) will be available for purchase worldwide from June 12, 2023, with launch schedules varying by region. The G93SC model will be available globally from Q3 2023.
To celebrate the launch, the Odyssey Cup will be held on the Samsung Odyssey Twitch channel on June 22, featuring 100 gamers competing in a Fortnite tournament.
