The Data Centre DC1000B from Kingston is a high-performance M.2 (2280) NVMe PCIe SSD. It utilizes the most recent Gen 3.0 x 4 PCIe interface and comes equipped with 64-layer 3D TLC NAND. DC1000B provides a cost-effective boot drive solution for data centers, giving these facilities the peace of mind that comes with knowing they are acquiring an SSD that was developed specifically for server applications.
The DC1000B is particularly suited for use in high-volume rack-mount servers as an internal boot drive or drives, as well as for use in purpose-built systems where a high-performance M.2 SSD that features on-board power loss protection (PLP) is required. It can also be used as an internal boot drive or drives in high-volume rack-mount servers.
SSD NVMe for Enterprise Data Center Boot Drive
Within the data center, M.2 NVMe SSDs are evolving to provide savings in the booting of servers, which helps to conserve valuable front-loading drive bays for the storing of data. Whitebox and Tier 1 Server OEMs are starting to include one or sometimes two M.2 sockets for booting reasons on their server motherboards.
These sockets are becoming more common. M.2 was first conceived of as a form factor for solid-state drives that would be used in client computers; but, due to its compact size and great speed, it has become more popular for usage in servers. It’s important to remember that not all solid-state drives are made equal; if you use a client SSD in a server application, you may experience poor and inconsistent performance.
Various Submissions
The primary function of a boot drive is to start an operating system (OS), however in many scenarios of use today, a boot drive also serves a secondary purpose, which may include logging application data or being set as a high-speed local cache disk. As a result, the DC1000B was developed with increased endurance (0.5 DWPD for 5 years) to manage not only the burden associated with the operating system but also the additional write workload associated with caching and data recording.
In addition to being intended for long term reliability, the DC1000B is meant to give enterprise level performance consistency and low latency capabilities that are often not present on client SSDs. These features can be found on corporate SSDs. Capacity options range from 240 gigabytes to 960 gigabytes.
Principal Attributes
The Performance of M.2 (2280) NVMe
Unbelievable performance at speeds of up to 2.6 GB/s and 200K IOPS.
Drive for the Server that Is Optimized to Boot
Enhanced not just for boot workloads but also for caching and recording application performance
To the ship (PLP) Protection against Power Loss
Reduce the likelihood of data being lost or corrupted in the event that the power is abruptly shut off.
Drive Bays Should Be Maximized
By moving boot drives internally, greater data storage space can be made available in front loading drive bays.
