Without a phone, kids may use the Galaxy Watch for Kids and Google Family Link to make and receive calls and texts with family and other authorised contacts, as well as use Teacher-approved apps and watch faces from well-known businesses.

Together with Samsung, Google launching the Galaxy Watch for Kids experience, a brand-new setup method for the Galaxy Watch that enables kids to stay connected while they’re out and about without using a smartphone. Parents can use Google Family Link to make sure their kids are developing good digital habits by using their cell-enabled smartwatches properly.

Parents can establish digital ground rules

The Galaxy Watch7 LTE’s setup for kids, powered by Wear OS, offers children the advantages of a wristwatch while also enabling parents to establish rules and make decisions that are best for their family. The entire family can stay connected by using the Family Link app, which makes it simple for parents to control watch settings, communicate, and know where their children are.

  • Maintain communication by establishing who your children can text and call from their watch.
  • Handle Google Play applications: Apps that your child can download to their watch might be approved or blocked. An application can even be blocked after it has been installed.
  • See where it is on a map: To find out where your children are, view the watch’s location on a map.
  • Minimise interruptions during school hours: In order to help children maintain concentrate in class, limit functionality during the school day. You can use the Family Link app to add breaks and manage their schedule.
  • Track down misplaced gadgets: Use your Family Link app to quickly find lost timepieces.

Parents and children can discover new entertaining, engaging apps and see faces

Twenty new Teacher Approved applications and watch faces have been added to Google Play’s Kids section with its collaboration with well-known children’s brands. Teachers and experts in children’s media have evaluated apps with the “Teacher Approved” logo based on criteria such as age appropriateness, experience quality, richness, and enjoyment.

In entertaining and captivating ways, these new programs showcase a variety of subjects, including arithmetic, science, history, music, creativity, emotional health, and physical exercise:

  • Through the Barbie Colour Creations app, children can engage in entertaining colouring activities every week while receiving motivational messages from Barbie directly on their wrist. Additionally, a glittery watch face with a rainbow motif is included.
  • A customisable watch face with a vibrant array of Crayola pets and bite-sized activities promote creativity, self-expression, and self-care through the Crayola Create & Play app.
  • Children may use watch faces of their favourite heroes, such as Groot, Captain America, and the Hulk, and make beats and dance with Groot in the Marvel HQ: Super Hero Fun app.
  • With its captivating multiplication puzzles, collectible dancing monsters, and lively animations and noises, the MathTango app makes practicing maths enjoyable.
  • This timeless puzzle comes to life with the Rubik’s Cube watch face’s amazing 3D twists and turns!
  • Kids may mix and combine ten different skateboard decks and background designs with the Tech Deck watch face, allowing them to experiment and express their individuality.
  • PBS KIDS has two new applications that you should check out, starting with Wild Kratts Creature Power Up. Join the Kratt Brothers in meeting, getting to know, and getting along with new animal companions. You can also test your Creature Powers by taking on tasks related to daily activities. Next, youngsters can solve odd cases and earn agent badges by using math, movement, and problem-solving skills in the Odd Squad Time Unit app. Watch the PBS KIDS: Dot Watch Face to learn how to tell time with Dot, along with other watch faces from Odd Squad and Wild Kratts.
  • Kids may track and identify their feelings with the Rebel Girls Mood Journal app, receive positive affirmations and entertaining activity ideas, and earn badges that highlight strong women. With adorable Rebel Girls Watch Faces, they may also flaunt their self-assurance on their wrist!
  • Children play the daily trivia game Two Whats?! & A Wow!, where they must discern science truths from fiction while learning the scientific “how” behind each “wow” remark. Combine the game’s space motifs, seasonal upgrades, and surprises with the Wow in the World Watch Face, which will have you saying “WOW!” all day.
  • As they explore charming animation based on Spin Master’s Netflix original series, children may customise their Unicorn Academy watch faces with their favourite unicorn and its rider.

With parental consent, kids can also find and download additional Google Play apps.

The Galaxy Watch7 LTE will soon be able to access the Galaxy Watch for Kids experience. AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon networks will be the first to provide it in the United States.
