AMD FSR 4
FSR 4: AI-Powered Improved Upscaling
AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 25.3.1, which is only available on AMD Radeon RX 9070 Series graphics cards, introduces a new, user-friendly AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 4GD-187B (AMD FSR 4) upgrading function that helps optimize performance at maximum quality in compatible games. With a single button in the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition user interface, this function instantly updates compatible games that include game-integrated AMD FSR 3.1 temporal upscaling to use ML-powered AMD FSR 4 upscaling.
High-quality ground truth game data on AMD Instinct GPUs is used to train the new ML-accelerated AMD FSR 4 upscaling algorithm, which makes use of the hardware-accelerated feature of the AMD RDNA 4 architecture, which is intended to give the user the highest possible upscaling quality while still offering a significant improvement in game performance. With an ML-based approach that helps enhance temporal stability, better preserve detail, and lessen ghosting, AMD FSR 4 upscaling significantly improves image quality over AMD FSR 3.1.

The AMD FSR 4 Upgrade feature, which will be available or soon to be accessible in over 30 games, will make use of features already included in the AMD FidelityFX API that game developers add when they include AMD FSR 3.1 into their games. Many more will follow later this year.
- Dragonkin: The Banished will receive a patch for FSR 4 support.
- With FSR 4 support, The Last of Us: Part II Remastered is slated for release on April 5.
- Only Windows 11 is supported.
With the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition application upgrade feature enabled in compatible games, AMD FSR 4 can be used in conjunction with AMD Radeon Anti-Lag 2GD-242 and AMD FSR advanced frame-generation GD-231A for incredibly responsive and smooth gaming at amazing frame rates on AMD Radeon RX 9070 Series graphics cards.
Turning on FSR 4
The instructions listed here will help you get started with AMD FSR 4 quickly.
- Make sure your computer has at least one of the FSR 4 compatible games installed. Launch
- AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition, then select the “Gaming” option.
- Select the “Graphics” subtab.
- There are two ways to enable AMD FSR 4 from this screen.
- Through the one-click setting for HYPR-RX: This makes AMD FSR 4 available in compatible games and adds a number of other features to improve the gaming experience for users.
- By using the “FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 AI Upscale” option, you can manually activate FSR 4 and select which other software features to activate (Radeon Anti-Lag is advised).
- At this stage, you can start your game and select the preferred FSR setting from the menu.
To verify that FSR 4 is operational, launch the AMD Software overlay by pressing Alt+R while playing, then look for the “Active” label on the FSR 4 status indicator. Additionally, you may visually verify every time you start a game. There will be a tiny overlay that shows the current state of FSR 4.

AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2.1
A component of AMD HYPR-RXGD-225A, the one-click performance-enhancing solution that automatically activates both in-driver and in-game AMD technologies, AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF)GD-234C is a state-of-the-art in-driver frame generation technology intended to boost frame rates and gameplay fluidity. Additional quality enhancements provided by AFMF 2.1 can aid in restoring details, minimizing ghosting, and improving handling of on-screen text overlays.

AMD Ryzen Processors with AMD RDNA 3 and RDNA 3.5 architecture-based Radeon integrated graphics and AMD Radeon RX 6000, 7000, and 9070 series graphics cards enable AFMF, which is compatible with thousands of games.
Radeon Image Sharpening 2.0
With AMD Software 25.3.1, there are visual enhancements in addition to performance gains. Users could add clarity to their games with the original AMD Radeon Image Sharpening, highlighting object details without producing visual artefacts that other sharpening techniques would produce. AMD RIS 2, the most recent version of AMD software, now offers customized sharpening for your desktop as well as your most recent games, increasing clarity and functionality for broader use cases like playing videos.

New Re-Architected Encoder for Better Captures
The visual enhancements are applicable to your captures as well as games and PCs. With enhanced motion estimation and multi-frame reference, the encoder on the more recent Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card has been redesigned to provide quick performance and better visual quality, enabling up to 8K at 75 FPS for HEVC and AV1.

New Features Now Powered with AI
Everyone are thrilled to introduce these developments within AMD Software as AI continues to drive new experiences. AMD Chat, a local, secure, interactive chat feature that will be available for the Radeon RX 9070 Series GPUs at launch, is one new feature that will be unveiled.
AMD Chat will first be able to respond to frequently asked questions regarding users’ GPU, CPU, and drivers. Additionally, it will offer links to the various sites from which the information was gathered, giving their AMD-powered PC access to more features and products. Additionally, users can submit documents to AMD Chat, which will display chat history and past exchanges for reference and allow users to ask questions about the provided data. AMD Chat is easily accessible through AMD Software, a hotkey shortcut, the system tray, or by right-clicking on your desktop. It doesn’t require an internet connection.
Additionally, AMD Chat will be able to integrate text and images. Users can create images directly within AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition by using a contemporary stable diffusion GPU that is accelerated by DirectML. This functions when no demanding apps or games are open.
The new AMD Image Inspector, an AI-based solution in AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition that helps customers get the most out of their graphics card, is the second AI-powered feature in this new software rollout. During a user’s gameplay, this new function employs AI to swiftly detect and record any possible image quality problems. The captured images can optionally be sent back to AMD servers for AMD graphics driver troubleshooting and improvement.

Users have the option to enable or disable this feature with AMD Image Inspector. Once enabled, they will be able to change the location of the captured media once it is logged and always examine the frames that are collected before sending them to AMD. This feature is located in AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition’s settings and preferences tab and is a component of the AMD User Experience Program.
The new “AI” parent tab in AMD Software will allow users to discover more AI-powered applications. In addition to AMD Chat, this tab will offer recommendations through the new AI Apps page, allowing users to discover fresh, compatible AI-powered apps that have been proven to run well on AMD Ryzen and Radeon processors.
