FFXIV Dawntrail Benchmark
Dawntrail Benchmark Test Previews Graphics Improvements using NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR
Square Enix published the Dawntrail benchmark today. Any new expansion for the popular MMORPG has always been preceded with benchmarks from the Japanese business.
FFXIV is a Square Enix MMORPG. Naoki Yoshida directed and produced the August 2013 PlayStation 3 and Windows release, which replaced the 2010 flop and included compatibility for PlayStation 4, macOS, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
FFXIV Dawntrail takes place in Eorzea five years after the Seventh Umbral Calamity finale of the original. Eldest primordial Bahamut fled Dalamud, an ancient space station, and caused an apocalypse on Eorzea. Using temporal magic, the original player character returned in A Realm Reborn. As Eorzea recovers, the player must defend against a Garlean invasion.
FFXIV Dawntrail requirements
Game play
FFXIV Dawntrail is an MMORPG with a persistent universe designed for player interaction with each other and the environment. Players choose a character’s name, race, gender, visual traits, and beginning class. After the first release, players may only start as a Disciple of War or Magic, not the Hand or Land. Game servers must be chosen for each character. Players should pick a server in their location since data centres are placed in North America, Europe, Japan, and Oceania to decrease latency. All languages are supported on every server. Multiple-language players may converse using a wide library of automatically translated game words and common phrases, regardless of server or language.
The character develops
EXP and greater gear help players level up. Players “level up” after obtaining enough XP, boosting their statistics, performance, and frequently learning new actions. FATEs, missions, instanced dungeons, and monster killing are FFXIV Dawntrail’s main experience sources. The “main scenario” questline is a brief, specialised assignment offered by non-player characters that rewards stuff and EXP.
The game’s storyline advances via major scenario missions. Repetitive missions include “daily” quests and “Levequests” that use “leve allowances” the player steadily accumulates. Due to the Duty Support system, players may explore some dungeons alone with computer-controlled party members. Dungeons may help lower-leveled players obtain EXP rapidly or help experienced players find rare items, equipment, and gold. Daily, Duty Roulette randomly assigns the player to an accessible dungeon and grants character-level extra EXP.
Whether they’re in a party or not, FATEs let big groups of players work together in the world. Locate-specific activities include fighting renowned creatures, guarding sites, escorting non-player characters, culling fauna, and attacking enemy fortifications. In conclusion, killing enemies earns EXP, and the Hunting Log awards EXP for killing a certain number of creatures. At maximum level, character growth only involves collecting better equipment, rising “item level”. Endgame dungeons, crafting, raids, primal fights, and elite mark hunts provide this equipment.

FFXIV Dawntrail trailer
After development under the pseudonym Rapture from late 2004 to early 2005, FFXIV Dawntrail was unveiled in 2009. It uses the Crystal Tools engine from Final Fantasy XIII and was directed by Nobuaki Komoto and produced by Hiromichi Tanaka, who also produced Final Fantasy XI. The game debuted in September 2010 to near-universal unfavourable reviews after a brief, bug-filled beta.
In December, then-Square Enix President Yoichi Wada apologised to players and fans and announced a major development team overhaul, including the removal of Tanaka and the promotion of Komoto from Director to Lead Designer. The PlayStation 3 version was cancelled and monthly payments halted until further notice. Dragon Quest X planning head Naoki Yoshida was hired as producer and director after the development team reshuffle.
FFXIV: Dawntrail will include various visual upgrades including the upscalers AMD FSR 1.0 and NVIDIA DLSS 2.0, making this one especially fascinating. Additional system requirements have been added.
Improvements to visuals first. The game now has dynamic grass interaction as characters walk through it, denser and more detailed foliage, improved ground textures, shadow resolution and soft shadows, enhanced reflectivity for metals and wet surfaces, improved character models (especially skin), increased polygon count for objects, and wave simulation. Benchmarking shows the graphical improvements.
Temporally Stable Conservative Morphological Anti-Aliasing (TSCMAA) was introduced by Square Enix. In virtual reality, Intel created TSCMAA to replace MSAA.
Incompatible with NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR, TSCMAA must be chosen. Users cannot move between performance, balanced, and quality settings in the upscaler.
