Furthermore, in the EU and European Free Trade Association territories, Microsoft will keep professional services data from technical support exchanges for the core cloud services.

Multiple years of technical work by thousands of engineers and hundreds of Microsoft product teams led to this achievement. The EU Data Boundary reflects Microsoft’s commitment to providing superior cloud services that protect European transparency, privacy, and customer control. • Phase 1 enabled the storage and processing of customer data for most Microsoft Cloud services, including Azure, Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Microsoft 365, in January 2023.
  • Phase 2, adopted in January 2024, expanded the EU Data Boundary to encompass pseudonymized personal data. This ensures that even data that has been pseudonymized to avoid direct identification stays inside these territories.
  • With the completion of the EU Data Boundary in February 2025, Phase 3 guarantees that professional services data generated by Microsoft (such as support case notes) and supplied by customers (such as logs) are now stored within the EU and European Free Trade Association regions when customers in the EU and European Free Trade Association request technical support for services like Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and Dynamics 365. The professional services data storage commitment, which is detailed here, can need further client action for some Azure services.
