Benefits of SAP NS2 and Google Cloud

SAP NS2 ITAR compliance process

Assured Workloads on Google Cloud now supports International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) capabilities in nine different locations throughout the United States, which is a really exciting development for us to share with you. As part of this release, SAP National Security Services (SAP NS2), a supplier of secure cloud services for government and military organizations, has achieved ITAR compliance for SAP Ariba, their end-to-end procurement solution, on Google Cloud with Assured Workloads.

The U.S. Department of State’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) is in charge of enforcing the International Traffic in Arms rules (ITAR), which is a collection of rules that the United States federal government has put in place. The export of military items and defense services, as well as the handling of software and technical data that are restricted on the United States Munitions List (USML), are both subject to the restrictions imposed by these laws.

ITAR compliance may be difficult to accomplish at times because it needs a comprehensive knowledge of the business processes that categorize ITAR-relevant data as well as the application of data residency and access controls to the data in question. As of today’s accomplishment, Google Cloud now provides clients with ITAR-controlled software or technical data support by way of the security measures made available via the use of assured workloads.

By giving clients granular control over their deployments on Google Cloud, Assured Workloads enables these businesses to have a smooth DevOps experience across a variety of compliance programs. A comprehensive package of capabilities to manage the lifecycle of delivering a workload to fulfill compliance standards may be obtained via the use of features such as data residency, cryptographic controls, assured support, and assured workloads monitoring.

Customers do not need to manage two distinct consoles in order to install ITAR workloads, which means that Assured Workloads may be implemented as a part of an existing customer’s infrastructure on Google Cloud.

SAP Ariba serves as a connection point for millions of business partners located all over the globe. The platform is utilized by a large number of government and military departments, and it is capable of supporting operations involving acquisition worth multiple trillions of dollars. SAP Ariba offers true integration of business processes to its customers.

It interacts with your pay processes, back-end systems, and trade partners to offer the most possible value. This ensures that the source-to-pay process is carried out in a seamless manner. Customers of SAP NS2 who use the SAP Ariba network to handle procurement procedures for military contractors are required to comply with ITAR in order to fulfill the requirements of DDTC.

The combination of International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) capabilities on Google Cloud, Assured Workloads on Google Cloud, and SAP Ariba offers government and military organizations a safe and secure route to the cloud.

“SAP Ariba on Google Cloud provides us with a foundation to continue to grow our secure cloud portfolio to our Public Sector customers,” According to Lillian Chang, Senior Vice President of Product Strategy for SAP NS2, “Google Cloud enables us to achieve high execution velocity for compliance, and as a result, SAP customers will soon be able to deploy SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition on Google Cloud with ITAR compliance.”

“This is a testament to Assured Workloads’ ability to offer a cost-effective way to achieve compliance, its operational simplicity, and the seamless DevOps experience between various compliance programs,”

As of now, our clients are able to meet the criteria for more than ten foreign compliance programs that are currently accessible via the use of Assured Workloads provided by Google Cloud.
