Apple has a rather solid lineup of Macs right now, with all having transitioned to Apple Silicon. It seems Apple has more models coming soon. A couple of weeks ago, Mark Gurman said in his Power On newsletter that Apple was working on an even bigger iMac, and now we have some more information on this supersized iMac.
Apple is said to be working on a 32-inch iMac with Apple Silicon, which is expected to be released in 2025. The exact chip that will power this iMac is still unknown, but it is speculated that it could feature a 3nm Apple chip for enhanced performance. Since, Apple has already introduced a 24-inch iMac with an M1 chip, the 32-inch model is expected to offer even more power and performance, potentially featuring an M3 Pro or M3 Max chip to meet the CPU and GPU requirements of an all-in-one computer.
Apple currently sells a 32-inch screen, the Pro Display XDR. While this iMac display is unlikely to match the specifications of the Pro Display XDR, we can expect the resolution to stay the same since it’s the appropriate Retina resolution for the size. So the supersized iMac will more likely than not come with a 6K resolution screen, beating out the 5K resolution we’ve seen on the 27-inch iMac.
Apple is also reportedly working on a new model of the existing 24-inch iMac, which will feature faster internals. The current model comes with an M2 chip, and the updated version is expected to launch early next year with an M3 chip fabricated on a 3nm process. This upgrade is anticipated to bring significant performance and efficiency improvements to the 24-inch iMac.
Note that these reports are based on speculation and insider information, so until Apple officially announces any new iMac models, the details should be taken with a grain of salt.
